Murzah Wilmar East Africa Ltd, is part of the Wilmar International Limited. The principal activities of MWEAL are manufacturing and trading of cooking of oils, cooking fat, soaps and detergents and plastic containers. We are commited to train and develop Tanzania Citizens, and to this end we require the services of high calibre Tanzanian to provide a leading edge to our business.
Wilmar Internationals is implementing a worldwide EHS improvement plan, with respect to that, Murzah Wilmar East Africa Ltd, requires the services of a Safety, Health & Environment Manager who will be part of its implementation plan. The incumbent will directly report to the DGM Technical.
Key Responsibilities
• Responsible for Setting EHS targets, objective and focus areas, set up an internal EHS audit program, implement an integrated Environment, Health and safety management system (IMS) implement minimum EHS standards, implement a global EHS reporting platform (Enablon), and provide resourcing to meet above objectives.
• Conduct pre-operational risk assessment and risk mitigation measures. Implement all the required documentation, operational checks and reports for the HSE Management system to be compliant with OSHA standards, including corrective and preventive measures.
• Provide SHE improvement proposals stating non-conformances, proposed corrective actions, required resources for corrective actions and plan of implementation.
• Investigate the root causes of SHE complaints put forward by staff members, customers, clients and contractors and report the result to the management. Follow up to ensure that corrective actions are
• Audit work being performed with issued “work Permit”. Assist with the implementation of job Safety Analysis and inspect job site activities during particularly difficult or hazardous work situations.
• Participate in the investigation of accidents and near misses.
• Assist regular emergency response exercises and ensure drills are conducted to ensure the highest level of preparedness in any emergency.
• Maintain records of such drills, providing recommendations for emergency response improvements.
• Inspect regularity all firefighting, safety and emergency equipment.
• Assist in developing and implementing field location emergency response procedures and evacuation plans. Ensure that employees, contractors and site visitors receive HSE inductions.
• Assist in preparing written weekly and monthly HSE reports statistics and presentations related to SHE performance.
Job Requirements
• University graduate preferably BSc. In Chemical Processing, Environment, Occupational Health & Safety, or any other related field.
• At least 5 years of relevant working experience.
• Strong EHS management system experience and exposure to Incident Management Crisis Resolution (IMCR), Computer literate.
• Good communication skills leadership skills, change activist, self-motivated, positive attitude, responsible and trustworthy.
