14/4/2016 FINANCE OFFICER POSITION , MWANZA , TANZANIA

With a mission to restore health and healing to those most in need, IMA World Health is a non-profit, faith-based organization that offers extensive expertise in health systems strengthening as well as neglected tropical diseases, malaria, HIV, non-communicable diseases, and sexual and gender based violence programs in some of the most challenging and post-conflict settings throughout Africa, Asia, and the Caribbean.

IMA World Health and consortium partners, Partnership for Nutrition in Tanzania (PANITA), Development Media International (DMI) and Cornell University's Division of Nutritional Sciences will be implementing a five year program (from 2015 to 2020) for addressing Stunting in Tanzania Early (ASTUTE), to improve early childhood development and reduce the prevalence of stunting (low height for age) among Tanzanian children under 5 years old with focus on the first 1000 days of life from conception.

The anticipated DFID-funded project in Tanzania will be implemented in 5 regions of Kagera, Mwanza, Shinyanga, Geita and Kigoma in collaboration with Local Government Authorities and other multi sectoral stakeholders to support the National nutrition Strategy and will look, specifically to 1) support interventions to build knowledge, change attitudes, strengthen practice and expand services 2) retrain health facility and community level resource persons to ensure community engagement 3) deliver overall nutrition components and build the capacity of DNuOs and District trainers 4) build capacity for planning, programming, budgeting and financial management to sustainably address stunting.

We are seeking a Finance Officer, based in Mwanza, works under the supervision of Finance & Administration Director and is responsible for preparing financial statements, maintaining cash control, preparing the payroll and personnel administration, purchasing, maintaining accounts payable and managing office operations.

Responsibilities 

 Administer and monitor the financial systems in order to ensure that ASTUTE finances are maintained in an accurate and timely manner.Maintain the accounts payable and accounts receivable systems in order to ensure complete and accurate records of all moneysAssist with preparation of programme and grantee budgetsAdminister employee files and records in order to ensure accurate payment of benefits and allowancesAdminister the payroll in order to ensure that employees are paid in an accurate and timely mannerPrepare and reconcile bank statementsProvide
efficient and effective office managementAssist with the annual auditMaintain the computerized accounting systemMaintain financial files and recordsPrepare monthly, quarterly and annually financial statementsPerform other related duties as required

Academic Qualifications and Experience

Holder of professional qualifications in Accounting (CPA/ACCA) or Degree in accounting/FinanceAt least 5 years NGOs experience.Proven experience in preparing budgets, financial monitoring reports, budgetary systems and controls with strong analytical skills.
