APOPO is a Belgian NGO that has developed an innovative method using African giant pouched rats, nicknamed “HeroRATs”, to detect landmines and tuberculosis using their extraordinary sense of smell. APOPO is currently recruiting a Head of Training for managing the training of its TB detection and landmine detection rats. The position is located at APOPO’s Head Office in Morogoro, Tanzania and involves frequent international travel. The position requires a minimum of 2 year commitment.

3 Develop leadership and capacity among the trainers team

4 Be an active member of the management team

Overview of duties

The Kilombero Valley Teak Company Ltd. (KVTC) is a forestry company located in the Kilombero and Ulanga Districts of the Morogoro Region. The Company manages teak plantations and natural woodlands and processes rimber in a factory located in the Ulanga District.
KVTC Currently has three (3) vacancies for Foresters of different levels and skills:
1.    Silviculture Manager
KVTC`s estates are divided into 5 working units and each working unit has a plantation manager assigned to manage the day to day operations in the unit. The Silviculture Manager supervises the plantation managers and his/her responsibilities include
•    Nursery production of stumps and cuttings.
•    Land preparation as well as planting operations.
•    Silviculture operations (weeding and pruning)
•    Manage road drainage systems and culvert clearing
•    Fire management
•    Ensure compliance with FSC and other Health, Safety and Environmental standards.
The Silviculture Manager will have a minimum of a BSc in Forestry and no less than 5 years working experience. In addition computer skills, driving license as well as driving experience and good command of English language are a must.
The Silviculture manager is required to work independently and the vast majority of his/her time is spent in the plantations. Note that this is not a desk or office function.

2.    Assistant Research and Planning Manager
The Assistant Research and Planning Manager has following responsibilities:
•    Assist the Research and planning manager in his daily duties.
•    Supervise the mark for Thinning and Enumeration Teams.
•    Measurement and record keeping for trial plots
•    Management of the trial register
•    Capturing data in Micro forest Plantation software
The Asst.RPM will have a minimum of a BSc in Forestry with preferably some woek experience in the field of commercial forestry. In addition computer skills, (motorcycle) driving license as well as driving experience and good command of English language are must.
Although this position will require time to be spent in the office there is the expectation that the Asst.RPM will spent at least 50% or more of his time out in the plantations to supervise his/her teams and to ensure trials are maintained.

3.    OSP MF Manager
KVTC has an active Outgrower Program that is rapidly increasing in size as well as age soon commercial volumes will be derived from outgrowers and management of the plantation database for outgrower plots has become a full time job. The OSP MF Manager has following responsibilities.
•    Checking and recording of outgrower invoices.
•    Record keeping of OSP operations and reporting on progress vs APO
•    Capturing of activities in Microforest Plantation softwere
Although this position will require time to be spent in the Office there is the expectation that Asst RPM will spent at least 50% or more of his time at the OSP plots to ensure that data reaching him corresponds with actual situation in the field.
Additional Requirements
•    Experience working in and with rural communities will be an advantage
•    Experience working with teak will be an advantage
•    Experience with forest certification systems such as FSC
•    The applicant must have a passion for forestry and the environment.

EngenderHealth is a leading global women’s health organization committed to ensuring that every pregnancy is planned, every child is wanted, and every mother has the best chance at survival. EngenderHealth Tanzania was awarded a three years project by a Large Anonymous Donor to increase access to quality post-abortion care (PAC) and Family Planning Services in Arusha, Dodoma and Zanzibar. In close collaboration with other partners the project aims at expanding access to quality Post-abortion care with emphasize on long-acting reversible contraception and permanent methods (LARC/PMs). EngenderHealth is now seeking applications from highly qualified Tanzanian candidates to fill in the following position of Program Officers based in Arusha, Dodoma and Zanzibar. These positions are open for Tanzania national candidates only.
Scope of position:
The Program Officer is responsible for providing support and technical assistance to the Ministry of Health, Community development, Gender, Elderly and Children (MOHCGEC) service providers in integrating family planning services, with a focus on LAPRC and PMs into post-abortion care (PAC) services. H/she will be responsible for providing technical assistance to EngenderHealth’s Operationalizing Family Planning within Post Abortion Care. The program officer will also represent EH Tanzania at district and regional FP/PAC meetings and conferences.
The program officer will work with the project Manager in the Field Office to develop strategies and activities to implement program activities. He/she will provide technical programmatic assistance for improving and expanding facility and community based FP/PAC activities, and to identify strategies of improving linkages and referrals to higher health facilities.  He/she will work closely with the districts, other team members and MOHCGEC counterparts and other Implementing partners to ensure consistent application of national family planning and post-abortion care guidelines. H/she will promote and assist in the integration of FP and PAC interventions with a focus to increase uptake of LARC among PAC clients.
Key qualifications:
Advanced diploma clinical medicine (AMO) with 3- 5 years of work experience or Registered Nurse Midwife or Clinical Officer with 5 years of work experience in Post-abortion care and Family Planning services.
Proven experience in building capacity of clinical and non-clinical health providers and community-based health workers in maternal and child health care, FP/PAC integration, post-abortion family planning with a focus LARCs.
Experience with community-based health care provision and promotion
Familiarity with MOHCGEC and private-public partnership structures
Strong personal and professional commitment toFamily Planning and PAC
Demonstrated ability to supervise service delivery, demand creation, and capacity building interventions’
Proven skills and experience in the integration of male involvement in health services

Purpose of the job
The External Quality Assurance Technical Officer – will provide technical assistance to CTRL to organize and oversee TB Laboratory External Quality Assessment Program countrywide. The External Quality Assurance Technical Officer will also provide the reliable information that allows laboratories from all levels to assess and monitor the quality status of internal procedures and processes, suitability of the diagnostic systems, accountability and competence of the staffs.
Position in the organization
The External Quality Assurance Technical Officer reports to the Laboratory Technical Officer.
Profile
As an External Quality Assurance Technical Officer you will:
Provide technical assistance at CTRL on TB Lab Strengthening Program, networking and external quality assurance;
Improve performance of external quality assurance on TB microscopy/culture/DST and novel molecular diagnostics at all levels;
In coordination with Senior TO Lab, assist in the development of TB Laboratory guidelines, SOPs, forms and other documents as necessary in line with international practices;
Provide quarterly data for EQA smear microscopy to KNCV Office and NTLP;
Assess whether microbiology test for TB diagnosis are carried out in accordance with TB Laboratory guidelines;
In coordination with Senior TO Lab, CTRL Manager, staff and Quality Officer facilitate training on AFB EQA, TB Lab techniques such as microscopy/culture/DST;
In coordination with Senior TO Lab, to establish Intermediate Reference Labs for EQA microscopy in the respective regions;
Submit periodical progress reports and targeted supportive supervision report in accordance with KNCV-CHALLENGE TB guidelines to the KNCV Office and NTLP.
Who are we looking for?
Education
Medical microbiology degree, clinical microbiology or other relevant degree.
Knowledge and Experience
Minimum of 3+ years’ experience in laboratory and diagnostic microbiology;
Preferably with good knowledge in TB diagnostic (microscopic examination, culture/Drug Susceptibility Testing and new TB diagnostic tools);
Good knowledge in laboratory management and biosafety;
A quality management certification is an added advantage;
Certificate in Documenting QMS using ISO 15189 and/or Internal Auditing activities will be added advantage;
Knowledge in Microcomputer application and other statistical software’s
Behavioral skills
Demonstrated managerial skills;
Basic MS–Office skills;
Good communication skills, Fluent in Kiswahili and English (oral and written).

Purpose of the job
The Challenge TB Field Coordinator leads the Challenge TB team in one of the respective districts and acts as the regional representative for KNCV/Challenge TB. The main responsibility of the field coordinator is to provide high level technical support to all aspect of TB control in the respective region. The TB Field Coordinator builds sustainable technical capacity for TB control at regional and district levels to ensure patient centered care and treatment. The TB Field Coordinator works in very close collaboration with the Regional TB and Leprosy Coordinator (RTLC), the Regional Health Management Team (RHMT) and with other implementing partners to support CTB activities.

The TB Field Coordinator reports to the Deputy Country Representative.
Profile
As a Field Coordinator you will:
Advice TB control stakeholders at regional and district level in all areas of TB control (patient centered care, MDR-TB, TB/HIV, childhood TB, community engagement etc);
Act as a mentor for regional and district TB (and HIV) officers;
Build capacity of district TB control staff through on the job training and coaching;
Participate in joint supportive supervision visits within the region;
Identify bottlenecks and opportunities in TB control in the region;
Develop and co-facilitate technical TB trainings;
Supervise and inspire team members, while creating an environment where sharing, technical debate and innovation are part of the routine;
Contribute to the development of the regional work plan and implement with the team the outlined project activities;
Plan, coordinate and check the activities and deadlines of the regional team;
Monitor the project performance according to the M&E plan;
Prepare and submit quarterly and annual reports to the (deputy) country representative;
Participate in quarterly District Tuberculosis and Leprosy Coordinators performance review meetings and the bi-annual NTLP meetings;
