Position Description:

Since 2008, the World Lung Foundation (WLF) has contributed to the Government of Tanzania’s efforts to reduce maternal and neonatal mortality by improving women’s access to good-quality comprehensive emergency obstetric and neonatal care (CEmONC) through its Tanzania maternal health project.

The project works in three regions (Kigoma, Morogoro and Pwani) supporting 15 health facilities to bring quality CEmONC services to rural, isolated populations. WLF upgrades health centers, strengthens hospitals, trains and mentors assistant medical officers to provide emergency obstetric care including cesarean sections and nurse-midwives/clinical officers to provide anesthesia.

WLF is seeking a motivated and experienced candidate to join a strong and creative team in the organization in the position described below:

 Job Title:Project Driver

Duty Station:Kigoma

Reporting to: Kigoma Program Manager

Purpose of the role:

The Driver will assist World Lung Foundation (WLF) in Tanzania to fulfill its mission of working by providing safe driving, support, and logistical work. The Driver reports to the Kigoma Program Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

Driving

Drive vehicle for official travel and business, or asrequested.

Maintain high standard ofservice to both internal and external guests.

Ensure punctuality and safe transport;

Observing the road and traffic laws and regulations of the United Republic of Tanzania.

Ensure that safe driving practices are adhered to including local driving codes and internally agreedstandards.

Alcohol must not be consumed or present whilst on duty Car Security & Maintenance

Ensure vehicle is kept clean, tidy and in good working condition at all times

Ensure vehicle is keptsecure at all times

Ensure vehicle is given regular/day-to-day maintenance checks: check oil, water, battery, brakes, tyres,etc.

Taking account of all available information on road conditions, accessible routes and locations (including current radio news on traffic conditions) to update daily

Perform minor repairs and arrange for other repairs, prepare vehicle spare parts inventory

Prepare and submit vehicle monitoring report, including records of vehicle operations, maintenance, expenses, mileage, at end of each month

Assist the Admin Officer to ensure vehicle insurance and registration are updated according toschedule Car Logbookmaintenance

Log official trips, daily mileage, gas consumption, oil changes, etc;

Working Conditions:

This is a Kigoma based, full-time position with regular and extensive travel to World Lung

Foundation’s program areas there (maximum 80% of time for driving). Other working

conditions and benefits will be provided as outlined in World Lung Foundation’s Manuals.

Education and Experience:

Must have at least Form IV education.

Must have at least Advanced Driver’s Certificate Grade Two from the National Institute of Transport.

Must have a valid driver’s license of C1 level.

Should have at least 5 years experience with good driving record with no major accidents in the past 3 years. Experience in NGO setting is will be an added advantage.

Compensation:Salary will be set according to experience and qualifications, in accordance with

World Lung Foundation’s salary scale.
